We Got the Beets (juicing)…

It helps if you listen to this while you prep your juice…

Ok, NOW we can work. 🙂 Feel free to sing along and change the words to fit what we’re doin’. Today, I’d like to share one of my favorite recipes for juicing veggies/fruits! If you don’t have a juicer and would like one, there are a million out there, and they range in price. (I have a midrange one that works pretty well…Hamilton Beach Big Mouth.) Juicing has about a million health benefits because you’re getting the nutrients of MANY veggies and/or fruits and/or added spices in ONE glass. Sometimes we juice as a snack, and sometimes we make extra large glasses of it and have it as a meal replacement. Either way, it gives us a ton of energy! You can add the pulp that’s left over to sauces, casseroles, freeze it for later, or give it to the chickens (great when they’re molting!). 😉

We Got the Beets…

(approximate amounts as usual!)

  • 1 beet…wash well and include the beet part AND the stems/leaves. I hate the taste of beets, but we’ll cover up that dirt taste with the rest of our veggies/fruits. They are so very good for your body!!! (Eczema sufferers, this is a great way to help your skin naturally! Read the books “Fast Eczema Cure” by Mike Miller or “The Eczema Diet” by Karen Fischer for more natural ways to help your body heal from the inside out. Those books changed the way I think about my eczema.)
  • 2 apples…I heart McIntosh…not too tart, not too sweet, and they’re juicy. If you wanna core them, that’s fine. Some people say the seeds are poisonous, but I also know of some who believe that “Life is in the seed” and swear by eating them. Everything in moderation. I wouldn’t juice a ton of apple seeds and drink the juice, but I also don’t usually take them out. 🙂
  • 4 carrots
  • a few slices of ginger
  • 1/2 lb kale
  • 1/2 bag of NewStar Power Greens (I get it from Walmart…you can find something similar elsewhere, or just grab some spinach…this bag has spinach, bok choy, red chard, green swiss chard)

After I wash and juice all those ingredients and pour back & forth from glass to glass to mix it well, I sprinkle in a dash of Turmeric, Cayenne Pepper, and Cinnamon. All of these ingredients are added for their health benefits and to add sweetness (carrots & apples). 🙂 If you’d like to find out a few of these ingredients’ health benefits, click on the ingredient or google “health benefits of…” and you will find many more articles.

Enjoy!
